Aokigahara - introduction

im going to keep this introduction fairly brief, as im assuming most people who would read this are aware of what i am doing in japan. this is basically a blog of my thoughts and experiences from my 20 days in japan visiting the suicide forest. i am not going to explain about the forest itself in depth, if your interested google it, theres plenty of information out there, or here is the Wikipedia page on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aokigahara. the purpose of my trip is to record the landscape, wich is effectivley one of the most beautiful picturesque places in the world, in contrast to its dark associations to suicide. i want the images to be subtle and very atmospheric more than anything summing up how the place makes me feel. Japans attitude towards suicide is uniuque and a facinating part of their culture, if nothing else i want my images to inform culturally and raise awareness of the problems of suicide in Japan. because of the current ecenomic climate there is predicted to be a record number of suicides this year.

i am shooting on a 5x4 field camera. so this blog will not have any of my work on, meerly a record of my thought process and the reactions i have to the forest and the things i find there. i may, if possible, upload photos from my mobile, to make it a little more interesting.. i leave on the 5th, arriving in japan on the 6th. i will try and update the blog daily but this may not always be possible.

thanks
