Last day.

so its my last day in tokyo today. and i couldnt be happier to be flying home tomorow... well.. i could be... i would be conciderably happier if the flight didnt take 17 hours... but.. you know..


this place was really interesting about 400 meters of tramps sleeping in cardboard houses... literally there wasnt one spot along this road that didnt have a homeless person in an intracatley constructed box fortress.
so, as it was my last day, i wanted to show you guys something interesting and "classic tokyo" so, i went here, its a shop called Rope, in Shibuya, and aparantly it is one of the last "used panty shops" in tokyo... as in... literally... all of these packets are either tights, or underwear in a packet available for sale. i took a couple of other pictures but aparantly there invalid file types (fuck my phone) the prices ranged from 2000yen... wich is around 14 pounds for a pair of tights with a respectable looking woman on the front. to 6000 yen wich is around 40ish pounds for a pair of underwear with a picture of a young girl rubbing herself on the front... lovely... while i was in the shop... wich wasnt for very long as it was the smallest most awkward place ever, i watched a man get tolled off by the shop owner for smelling the underwear before he purchaced it..... *sigh* oh japan. you crazy crazy place.

so i went to the park nr Harijuku. it was really cool.




i also got to experience the infamous... people pushing you onto the trains with sticks at rush hour.... for those of you who havnt seen this.. google it... when the trains are really busy at rush hour, there are people employed to cram people onto the trains so that more people can fit, luckily i was sitting down, so it didnt really effect me, but it didnt look too plesant for the people standing...

im glad i managed to keep my blog up everyday, iv had good acces to computers, and im glad you have all been interested and checking it out. this will be my last post... although i may do a cheeky one tomorow when i get home.. i havnt decided yet.. depends how interesting the flight is.... i might also update with the photos i get when i have developed them, if anyone would be interested in seeing? if not, i wont. but let me know if you would be interested.

again, a big thankyou to all of you who have been checking the blog, and for all of those who have spoken to me while iv been out here and been genuinley interested in what im doing!

Capsual based fun.

so, its now about... 38 hours untill i fly home. and im really looking forward to being back! i have loved japan, the country the people.. the crazy little things that you would only get here... its been amazing. today i just walked.. literally all day.. walked from my capsual hotel in Ueno to shibuya, then from there to Shinjuku then got the metro back to Ginza.. then back to the hotel... and for the past hour or two iv been walking around the market here in Ueno... i havnt really go many pictures to put up of all of it, cos youv seen it all before in my earlier posts.. iv had really good weather tho... im nackered now from walking round all day!

so i thought i would show you the capsual hotel in more detail, as its a really interesting place... my phone camera has been playiong up a bit again today.. but anyway. it is a very strange place.. it is in the dirtiest part of Ueno... literally outside the door right now theres about 7 tramps that i can see from here... two of them sleeping literally right next to a main road.. :s.. the rooms dont have locks, because... there literally just holes in the wall with matresses in. if i kneel up in my capsual i have to bend my neck. and its about 6ft deep, so it literally just fits the 'matress' in. the picture bellow shows the amount of room to the side of the bed.


this is the air vent... designed to keep the room cool. it does not work. atall. last night it was like a fucking oven in there... seriously the hottest nights sleep iv ever had!

i get a little tv a phone and a mini-safe....
thankfully the 'smoking area' is just round the corner from my cave... so atleast i have the refreshing smell of smoke to lul me to sleep. saying that though, the pillows are much better than what i had at the forest hostel... so im greatful than that atleast! this is my last night here, then im going back to the Oak Hotel that me and jade stayed in.... for no other reason than this place dusnt have a shower.. and i smell terrible...

Windows 95!? seriously... 95!

so today, i went back to tokyo. i have three nights left. including this one untill im home!

if i still had a ps3 i would have got this! was like 14 of the queens english pounds..



so this is my capsual hotel.. its the like... seediest place ever.. and it feels very insecure... but im sure itll be fine... :s... the computer im using literally has windows 95 on it... as in... 1995... mental.

last night in suicide forest.

So today was my last day photographing the forest, and my last day staying in Kawiguchiko. was it what i expected? did i get what i came for?... i dont know... to either of those questions.. i guess it was worse than i expected it to be. the forest was by far more dence and hard to navigate than i thought it would be, even after reading and hearing so much about it, i was just like "yeah, it cant be THAT bad, i live in the new forest and i havnt once got lost there".. yeah.. i was wrong. it was that bad. infact it was worse. but, with all the bad things iv said about this place, and about the forest. and all suicide related matters aside. it is beautiful. this whole area is, mt.fuji is amazing. i was waiting to see it, but didnt really expect to be impressed, but it dominates the skyline with its iconic shape. im glad i got to see it. and i really enjoyed the physical challenge involved in lugging all my equiptment around every day. im glad that its over, but im also very very glad that i came here. as for did i get what i came for? i guess i wont know untill i get home and develop the film. i have 70 odd (hopefully correctly exposed) sheets of film. and about 4 fogged or blank sheets from me being clumbsy with the darkslides/ forgetting to close the lense. but overall im happy with what i chose to photograph and what i chose not to photograph. im going to tokyo tomorow, then its only 4 days untill i will be home!

so this morning, i got up super early, hoping to catch jade before she went out, i JUST missed her.. as i was up so early and it was my last day, i decided to get the early bus to the forest, make the most of it and all that.... but when sitting on the bus, i realised... not only did i only have a few sheets of film left, so "making the most of it" would not really last the 8 hours of the day... and when it inevitably didnt, i would be stuck here, in this boring little computer room while all of you were asleep. also, if i jus stayed on the bus till it looped back home i would be back in time (hopefully) for jade to be back from wayf. i was, and i got to talk to her ever so slightly drunk self on Skype. wich was amazin, getting to talk to her/see her properly fully cheered me up. though it ended with her falling asleep as i tried to explain to her how a light meter worked... here is a screen shot of her asleep...

as soon as the sun comes out this place gets so busy. seriously, there were days when i was lucky to see this many people in the whole day. and this morning theres people all over the place.

i spent about 3 hours in the forest, and got all the shots i wanted to, got about 10 sheets today.

i swear there are more NO ENTRY paths than there are paths that your actually aloud to take in this place..

so back to tokyo tomorow. im staying in a capsual hotel near Ueno where me and jade stayed in the first week... should be interesting.. hopefully ill be able to update my blog from there...

though i just want to say, thank you so much, for all those people who have been checking my blog, everytime someone tells me there checking it, or they have checked it it makes me smile. it has been so useful to me to be able to share what iv seen/how im feeling on my blog and knowing that people are actually genuinley interested enough to check it out made it alot easier.

A victorious sight to wake up to!last night a funny asian man came and told me it would be sunny today, and what do you know, he was right... i also decided to take a day off today, following advice from several people.. although i dont have any moneys left... so i just mooched around here, trying to get a good photo of the Fujinator.

i had told jade that i was going to try and climb on eof these mountains while i was here, and being a man of my word, i gave it a shot... unfortunatley it proved alot more dangerous and slipery than i had planned.. especcially concidering i had all my 5x4 gear...

a tretcherous path indeed. not long after this climb of death, i decided i would rather be alive and suffer the shame of getting the cable car to the top than fall ahundred meteres to my death, and plumeting to my death was on my mind alot after reading about climbing mt everest last night...

the view from the top was pretty good. and i managed to get some shots on the 5x4 i was happy with. everyone awas loving it! this is more or lees the first time iv got it out in public (the 5x4) and people kept coming and asking me about it. good times.

last full day of photographing the forest tomorow also my last night here, then i will be back to tokyo for 3 nights.
